Export Packing for Fasteners: Bulk Cartons, Small Boxes and Pallets

Fasteners are one of the least forgiving products to pack badly. They are dense, they have sharp threads, and a weak carton fails long before the goods reach your warehouse. Good export packing is planned with the order, not added at the end.

The main packing formats

  • Bulk cartons — the standard for distributors and industrial buyers. Fasteners are packed loose in a strong carton, usually with an inner plastic bag to protect the finish from humidity.
  • Small boxes — for retail and DIY channels. Screws or bolts are counted or weighed into printed or plain small boxes, then packed into a master carton.
  • Bags — poly bags by weight or count, common for washers, nuts and small screws, often combined with a header card for retail display.
  • Customer labels and barcodes — item code, size, quantity, barcode and your brand can be printed on the carton or box label, as long as the artwork and data are confirmed before packing starts.

Weight is the first limit

A carton of steel fasteners gets heavy very quickly. Most buyers keep each carton at about 20–25 kg so warehouse staff can handle it safely and cartons stack without crushing. Confirm the target weight per carton when you order — splitting a heavy item into lighter cartons is easy at packing time and impossible afterwards.

Pallets and containers

For full-container orders, cartons are usually palletised, wrapped and strapped so they can be unloaded by forklift and counted quickly. Tell the factory if your warehouse needs a specific pallet type or a maximum pallet height. For mixed orders with many sizes, a clear carton marking system — item, size, quantity, carton number — saves hours at receiving.

What to confirm before production

  1. Packing format per item (bulk, small box, bag).
  2. Units per inner pack and per carton, and the maximum carton weight.
  3. Label content: product name, size, standard, quantity, and any barcode or brand artwork.
  4. Pallet requirements, if any.

Send us your packing requirement with your inquiry, and we will quote with the packing included instead of treating it as a surprise at the end.
